A group of 16 beautiful wāhine have been selected for our upcoming Term 2 Wāhine Toa programme at Papamoa College. We had our first “get-to-know-you” session during last week of Term 1 to introduce ourselves and the programme. They are an amazing group of girls that are up against some tough situations in their home and social lives.
The aims and objectives of Wāhine Toa are to:
– Encourage girls to make the right decisions around their peer group and their everyday actions and behaviour. – Provide the girls with up to date relevant and accurate information regarding matters they are possibly experimenting with or involved in. – Empower young women to reach their potential. – Build positive relationships between the police, young people, their whanau and their community.
